HowStuffWorks for iPad

HowStuffWorks has always been a great repository of knowledge and this iPad app does nothing but extend that. The award-winning website, which offers its content free of charge, was founded by North Carolina State University Professor Marshall Brain and is now owned by Discovery Communications, the same company that owns Discovery Channel. If you’re sick of browsing the site from your iPad, the new app will might make you want to look at the site’s content more often:

From the team that brought you the award-winning HowStuffworks for iPhone, experience HowStuffWorks.com in a brand new way with the HowStuffWorks for iPad app! Access tons of new features and content, including a massive collection of articles, quizzes, podcasts and videos in a completely re-imagined experience available exclusively for iPad!

The app features all the content that’s available on the HowStuffWorks website, from the growing list of 12,000 videos and 40,000 articles currently available to a line-up of science-related audio podcasts showcasing subjects like technology, cars, and anything that will most definitely blow your mind. All podcasts are available from an easy place known as "Shows" and can easily be accessed from within the app:

HowStuffWorks is also making sure readers are as engaged as possible by making several quizzes available, as well as random new facts that are displayed every time the app is launched. Speaking of launching the app, every time you do it you’ll always see new content to ensure that you’ll never get bored.

Many publications, including Wired, The New York Times and even Playboy, have looked to the iPad as a means to expand its audience as print becomes less and less relevant. By developing interactive and very natural iPad apps, publishers can deliver higher-quality content than ever before and push it out to more users than ever for less money, since there aren’t printing costs involved.

The HowStuffWorks app is available free of charge from the iOS App Store. Much like the website itself, this app is a must-have for all those who like to call themselves "geeks".
