How To Get Free $5 Starbucks Gift Card Using iMessage On iPhone

Fans of Starbucks can now send Starbucks Gifts to their friends and family via a new Messages app, meaning sending money for coffee is now just a case of sending an iMessage and using Apple Pay. In order to celebrate the introduction of the new feature, Starbucks is offering a free $5 gift card to the first people who use it.

Getting your free $5 gift card is simple, and all you need to do is gift someone $5 or more in order to receive your reward.

“Now you can send Starbucks Gifts with iMessage with Apple Pay. Be one of the first to send a $5 or more Starbucks Gift via iMessage and receive a $5 Starbucks Gift for yourself – while supplies last.”

Sending a Starbucks gift card via Messages is super-simple, though you will obviously need to have the Starbucks app installed. Assuming that prerequisite has been met, here’s what you need to do.

Step 1: Fire up the Messages app and open a conversation with the person to whom you want to send the gift card.

Step 2: Tap the App button.

Step 3: Tap on the four dots at the bottom of the app drawer. It’s on the left hand side.

Step 4: Tap Manage and then enable the Starbucks app.

Step 5: Back in the conversation you were just in, select the App button again.

Step 6: Choose the Starbucks app.

Step 7: Finally, select the value you want to gift and authenticate against your Apple Pay account.

Be quick, though – only first 45,000 people will receive the free $5.

Starbucks will give away up to 45,000 Promotional Gifts to eligible customers between 4/10/17 and 4/23/17.

A quick tip – you can theoretically send a gift card to yourself, receiving the free $5 from Starbucks in the process. If you are a Starbucks coffee fan already, that’s a sweet deal no matter how you look at it!
