There are very few shows being aired on television at the moment that can cause a spike in excitement levels quite like the fabulous Game of Thrones series. Season 6 of the extremely popular fantasy drama is fast approaching, and as you might expect, adrenaline levels and excitement gauges are reading off the scale amongst those who love nothing more than engrossing themselves in the fantasy worlds of Westeros and Essos. HBO is quite clearly happy to promote that excitement, and has quickly moved to stoke the fire once more with the release of a new short teaser trailer that shows off previously unseen footage from season 6.
Rather than try and keep all media and footage of the new season behind closed doors until season 6 officially airs, HBO has shown willingness in an attempt to not only excite fans of GoT with a number of short clips that don’t necessarily show anything we didn’t already know, but to also release a two-minute trailer that gave us a little glimpse into the latest season. Now, the television network has followed that up with the release of a new promotional clip that doesn’t pull any punches by being rammed full of previously unseen footage, but is considerably shorter than the full trailer.
In all honesty, HBO’s hand was forced a little bit with the release of this latest clip. A leak of the media pretty much ensured that HBO had to take the necessary steps to get it out in an official capacity, and any fan of Game of Thrones will be glad that they did.
The new clip shows Sansa continually running through a forest in what we can only imagine is an ongoing attempt to escape. The forest and wooded areas are a common theme within this clip, as we also see Brienne of Tarth using the cover of the forest to attack something, or someone.
If characters dashing through the woods doesn’t really whet your whistle in anticipation of the new series, then how about a little additional adrenaline-based behavior? Fans of the overtly violent series will enjoy the sight of a giant using his power and size to smash through a door, and there’s also a glimpse of The Night’s King – the leader of The White Walkers – standing in front of bellowing flames. The teaser ends with the quote “a face will be added to the hall” hinting at an imminent death of a character.
Not long to go now until it all falls into place with season 6 airing on April 24th.
