Samsung has been accused of reacting slowly to the mess that has culminated in the Galaxy Note 7 being killed off for good following a host of fire-related issues, but nobody can accuse the company of not taking seriously the way it goes about getting all of those devices back to home base.
As one XDA-Developers forum-goer has shown via video, Samsung is not only sending boxes out to Galaxy Note 7 owners in order to make returns as easy as can be, but it is also potentially going a little overboard on the safety aspect of said returns.
As the video shows, Samsung is not only providing owners of the Galaxy Note 7 with a box in which to return their smartphone, but also a set of gloves to make handling the device as safe and can be. Oh, and that box? It’s no ordinary box, because this box is in fact, wait for it, a thermally insulated box. Should the Galaxy Note 7 held within decide to get a little too warm, anything outside that thermally insulated box should be just fine and dandy, with no risk of residual fires being started.
Samsung understandably doesn’t want to take any risks with these devices, which also explains why they will not be shipped via airplane, just in case. In fact, Samsung is also providing a label that ensures everyone involved knows that the package is “forbidden for transport by aircraft.”
Forbidden is a strong word, but given the FAA’s reluctance to allow Galaxy Note 7 handsets anywhere near something that can leave the ground, it’s perhaps wise to ensure an airplane of Galaxy Note 7 handsets on their way back to Samsung isn’t something we have flying around above us, you know, just to be safe.
Be sure to check the video out and marvel at the lengths Samsung is now going to in order to ensure no more people run the risk of being harmed by one of its ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 smartphones.
