Flipboard is a prime example of how an app should look, perform and function. It’s clean, it’s crisp, and everything just works, and it is truly unmatched on both the iPhone, and primarily, the iPad.
Much like Instagram, it’s one of a select few iOS-only apps which Android users cannot wait to get their hands on, and although the Samsung Galaxy S III was supposed to command some exclusivity over the social magazine app in order to bolster early sales, the .apk has already leaked into the wild.
Samsung will need all the help it can in convincing consumers its highly-anticipated device is worth considering over, say, the HTC One X, and it was hoped keeping Flipboard as a Galaxy S III-only app for a short while would help push a few extra sales, but now the .apk has been ripped, Android users can ironically get it before their quad core-craving counterparts.
With the Android development community being so incredibly active and dedicated, it was almost a foregone conclusion that it would leak early, but this is a lot quicker than most will have anticipated. If you want to get started with Flipboard, all you need to do is download the .apk from XDA Developers forums and install it. Make sure your device is set to install .apk files from unknown sources.
It’s unlikely to arrive over at the Google Play Store any time soon, but thanks to the early release, you won’t be left waiting around for one of the greatest apps to finish its promotional stint on the opinion dividing new device.
It will be released in Europe on May 29th before making its way to the US sometime next month.
