Evidently I downloaded an ACTIVATED ipsw file when what I want is a NON-ACTIVATED file since I'm on a legit iphone contract. Sigh... now to restore all over again after the hours just spent in vain =T

Taimur, I think it would be a good idea to add this info to your guide so other PC users don't make the same mistake I made. Although it's fine for someone on a legit contract to unlock their phone as I did, there are some major annoyances such as the much despised "Network Lost" popup which occurs when you have a specific carrier selected (as opposed to "Automatic") and lose your signal briefly.

Ok, so I was lazy this time and didn't read the actual Pwnage tool procedure before restoring my own phone with a custom image… hey, it is for MAC after all! No biggie I guess, though I liked not having to jump on the unlock train.
But now I can't seem to use the Rogers carrier logo I've always used due to this carrier name problem. I made my own customized image but it has to be uploaded to two different locations on my phone and one is missing:

Private/var/mobile/Library/Carrier Bundles

All MIM does is put a text label for the carrier.

Rogers user here… after restoring with the custom firmware image it seems I now have to unlock in order to connect with my carrier.
