Thank you, this is the best & easiest explanation. I unlocked my 3GS to see how I would like it & check out the tethering apps. My phone was out of its year warranty, so no harm, no foul. Unfortunately when I got my iPhone 4 this mod got thru the restore. I searched everywhere trying to find a way to do it w/o jailbreaking, so if you know of instructions for that I think many would be grateful to be able to undo this while keeping their warranteed phone “virgin”…. Thanks!

iphone 3g 3.1.2 firmware jailbroken with blackra1n and unlocked with blacksn0w on loss of signal i need to take the sim card out put it in my other phone make a phone call then put it back in the iphone before it regains signal any ideas why? I need help please!

Thank you very much all Brother post commend here the step how to Jailbreak/Unlock for Iphone.
I was done last minute.
First! After Jailbreak Reboot the Iphone, put back the AT&t Sim Card in Not working.
Second! After Unlock from “Cydia” Reboot the Iphone not Everything Working Perfectly.
Again thank you so much all Brother hard working. Have a good on a future thanks.

My battery percentage is missing from the upper right. Has anyone had this problem? I used blackra1n.

Ok, so I was lazy this time and didn't read the actual Pwnage tool procedure before restoring my own phone with a custom image… hey, it is for MAC after all! Evidently I downloaded an ACTIVATED ipsw file when what I want is a NON-ACTIVATED file since I'm on a legit iphone contract. Sigh… now to restore all over again after the hours just spent in vain =T

Taimur, I think it would be a good idea to add this info to your guide so other PC users don't make the same mistake I made. Although it's fine for someone on a legit contract to unlock their phone as I did, there are some major annoyances such as the much despised “Network Lost” popup which occurs when you have a specific carrier selected (as opposed to “Automatic”) and lose your signal briefly.

Rogers user here... after restoring with the custom firmware image it seems I now have to unlock in order to connect with my carrier. No biggie I guess, though I liked not having to jump on the unlock train.
But now I can't seem to use the Rogers carrier logo I've always used due to this carrier name problem. I made my own customized image but it has to be uploaded to two different locations on my phone and one is missing:

Private/var/mobile/Library/Carrier Bundles

All MIM does is put a text label for the carrier.
