First Unboxing And Hands-On Video Of (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 Plus Hits The Web

Apple started taking pre-orders for its new (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus earlier this week ahead of their official launch this coming Friday and just as you might imagine, the media blitz is underway with Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) having been provided with one of the new devices to allow him to make a video on it.

The same happened with the iPhone 7 version last year, and Brownlee has once again put together a video showing the new colorway in all its glory.

The handset given to Brownlee was a 256GB iPhone 8 Plus in that famous (PRODUCT)RED color and the first thing you notice is just how bright that red coloring is.

Where the metal construction of the iPhone 7 lent itself to a darker, matte red color, the glass construction in use with the iPhone 8 line results in a much more vivid red. Brownlee likened it to “Ferrari-like” and we can certainly see what he means.

While the shade of red is definitely different, without doubt the biggest change with the new handset is the use of a black front panel. Whereas previous (PRODUCT)RED iPhones have shipped with a white front panel, the new iPhone 8 line makes use of a black one which is something people have been crying out for. This alone gives the new iPhone a stronger, cleaner look and does away with the candy cane look of its predecessors.

Apple’s support of the HIV/AIDS program via the (PRODUCT)RED hardware and accessories it sells has so far been able to raise over $160 million for The Global Fund, although it is not known what portion of sales are handed over.

Be sure to check out the full video for a look at Apple’s latest iPhone release, complete with that all new look.
