Hold power and home while plugged into usb. it will go into recovery mode. then restore phone

Follow the directions above. Minus the bspatch section. Do make a copy of CommCenter. Don't run bspatch and you'll be good to go.

hey guys is there any way to tether using a jailbroken iphone 3g 3.1.3 to tether if so will following this method on this page work for me ?

I solved the problem. You have to install a custom IPCC file through iTunes. Search on hackint0sh for how to do that. Then you can edit you apn settings and it will work.

Fun Fact: If you make a copy of CommCenter (Don't Patch) on 3.1.3, the copied file retains the correct md5 but the hex values mentioned for the change, are changed. As in, YOU DONT NEED TO DO ANY HEX EDITING. Everytime I ran the bspatch, the md5 would change and it would cause my phone to go into an endless reboot loop

Yay!! Worked for me … but had to download the latest version of Cyberduck to do so …. also had some wierd permissions stuff come up but I just clicked allow and it all worked …. now have tethering back on my 3gs thanx!!

Worked well for me, thanks for the guide!

My setup:

Carrier: AT&T (US)
iPhone 3GS, updated to OS 3.1.2 and baseband (carrier settings) 5.6 using iTunes
Jailbroken with blackra1n
Installed AT&T carrier profile from www.benm.at on 1/29/2009
Followed tutorial above to enable tethering
Tethering works by USB or Bluetooth. Thanks!
