From Blackra1n, did you install sn0w? When I jailbroke my phone, I only installed Cydia and Rock since I didn't plan on using the phone with another carrier. In order to make tethering work you have to unlock it. Once I installed snow and restarted, the ipcc that I had previously installed worked.

it works for awhile but it keeps disconnecting… and like a week later it says no service and it stays like that and i have to restore it..help??!!

I'd love to hear if this is still working. I followed the instructions perfectly (tried it a few times) and it doesn't work. Let me know if there's another way to get tethering on 3.1.2 firmware.

Is there any working tethering method for a 3GS running 3.1.2 for AT&T that does not always disconnect? Whats the point when you have to keep reconnecting the usb cable every other minute? I used blackra!n jailbreak then sinful repo

Hi,

Just jailbroke and unlocked my iphone 3.1.2. using blackrain. I am using the iPhone-Notes.de unsigned att carrier profile from Cydia. I have encountered a problem: when I try and reset my network settings or reboot the phone the iPhone tells me its in recovery mode and to connect to iTunes. From this point I cannot load the OS. The only way I have found to circumvent this issue is to connect it via USB and run blackrain again which reboots the iPhone. I would like to be able to turn my phone off and on without this problem. Any ideas?

yep, having the same issue with 3g on At&T. When it happens, I switch to Edge network and it works fine.

I LOVE IT!!! it works great for me, I had originally just installed the blackrain and thats it, the tethering option never would come up i even restarted the phone like 5 times, then in my i phone i taped the blackrain icon and saw the snow program to unlock it so i decided to download it also, once i did that and it restarted the tethering option was there, i still was skeptical so i decided to plug my usb cable to my laptop and see if it really worked and it all works great, now I can go and cancel the stupid mobile internet card that i had bought from at&t a month ago, no more paying the ridiculous fee of $35 a month plus tax for limited internet access

Is anyone having frequent disconnect issues from the ATT network when tethering? When I am tethered, after about 5 minutes, my phone goes into No Service mode and then reconnects and I am usually unable to continue surfing on my notebook unless I physically disconnect and reconnect the usb cable. I believe it is a DNS issue due to ping tests I've run and Win7's network diagnosis tool. Also, I have never had this issue before this hack and don's have issues if I am not tethering.

Does anyone else have this issue?
