ElevationDock 4 For iPhone, iPad Is First Dock To Allow One-Handed Usage

You may remember a Kickstarter project from around five years ago from which the ElevationDock was born. The iPhone dock was popular at the time, and now Elevation Lab has returned with a new version of its dock, this time with a braided Lightning cable that is integrated as well as one-handed operation that ensures the dock stays where it is when the iPhone is removed with just one hand.

If you have ever had to shake a dock off of an iPhone, then this alone is worth the price of admission!

Available for pre-order now and set to ship in around two weeks, the ElevationDock 4 will cost $59 with free shipping within the United States. According to Elevation Lab, the dock is compatible with all iPhones that are newer than the iPhone 4s, so that’s iPhone 5 and onwards. It should also theoretically work fine with all iPads that use a Lightning connector except the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which will require a “NanoPad” to be used because of its sheer size. Regardless, the sheer number of compatible iOS devices is impressive.

Compatibility

  • All Lightning iPhones (5/6/7)
  • All Lightning equipped iPads except the 12.9″ iPad Pro. Larger iPads and all Pad Pros require the NanoPad to adhered well to a smooth surface.
  • Works with cases up to 3.2mm (0.125in) thick on the bottom.
  • Compatible with all Apple cases (including the battery case) and all that conform to Apple’s specifications for case design.
  • Not compatible with thick multi-layer cases – like the OtterBox Defender and all LifeProof cases.

That one-handed mode is made possible via a selection of suction cups built into the base of the dock while thumb screws around the back allow the angle at which the iOS device sits in the ElevationDock 4 to be altered, meaning you should be able to get things just right so that you can see the device’s display.

Anyone looking to pick an ElevationDock 4 up will be able to choose from two color options – “MatteWhite” with a blue braided cord, and “MatteBlack” with a dark braided cord, both of which measure 5 feet in length. The product can be pre-ordered directly from the Elevation Lab website at elevationlab.com/products/elevation-dock-4.
