iPhone and iPad owners have become used to seeing updates for the hugely successful Pokemon Go hitting the App Store, but now it appears to be Super Mario Run’s turn to receive some attention with feature updates. Android users can also rejoice as the game officially lands on the Google Play Store.

Much to the delight of fans of the plucky little plumber, Nintendo’s update of Super Mario Run to version 2.0 brings with it an impressive array of new features which should not only keep users coming back for more, but also put to rest some of the initial criticisms of the game, including offering additional free content outside of the in-app purchase circle.

Two of the most notable additions to the latest version of Super Mario Run include more free content without having to purchase the full title via an in-app purchase, as well as actually releasing the popular title onto the Google Play Store for Android users a little earlier than expected.

Gamers looking to take advantage of the additional free-to-play content will be able to take part in what Nintendo is calling “Bowser’s Challenges.” Taking part and completing one of those challenges will unlock the 1-4 course, which will in turn unlock new courses in Toad Rally when cleared.

From a character and customization perspective, version 2.0 of Super Mario Run introduces a variety of different colored Yoshis. If you are one of those gamers who loves the Yoshi character, then you will be delighted to know that playing with a particular colored Yoshi in Toad Rally will result in the production of more Toads of a corresponding color when the rally is won.

Nintendo is also looking to appeal to those who like an easier life, as well as those who like a cheaper life, by integrating an Easy Mode to make the basic Mario levels a lot easier to complete for those using that mode.

Android users can download Super Mario Run for free from the Google Play Store, but will require a $9.99 in-app purchase for those who want to unlock the full, extensive experience. iOS users can grab the update right now.
