When Google released the first Developer Preview version of Android P last week, it meant that anyone with a Pixel or Pixel 2 device was able to get their hands on what will eventually turn into the latest and greatest release of Android yet, although that’s not likely to happen for a few months yet.

Still, new releases of Android are always big deals, and while the new features, improved APIs and general interface changes are always of particular interest to all of us, there is always a surprising amount of interest in something much more basic.

Wallpapers. Everyone loves new wallpapers. With Android P, things are absolutely no different. With the release of Android P Developer Preview one, we have no fewer than 18 new high resolution wallpapers to try out, and thanks to the magic of the internet, they are all now available for download.

That means that even if you do not have a Pixel or Pixel 2, or even if you don’t own an Android device at all, you can get some of that hot new Android P flavor on whichever device you happen to have in your pocket right now.

The 18 wallpapers all appear to fall into one of two camps; some are decidedly dark, effectively featuring different shades of black or gray, while others are much more colorful.

In fact, some of them are so colorful and busy, we wonder how anyone can ever bear to have them on their screens all the time but to each their own.

You can download all 18 wallpapers and try them for yourself – they’re free, and are all 2880×2800 in resolution – perfect for just about everyone.
