Amazon Offers Update Removes Lockscreen Promos From Prime Exclusive Android Devices [APK Download]

Amazon Prime is a wonderful thing, particularly if you find yourself ordering everything from the big shopping mall in the cloud.

Even before you start throwing in Amazon Prime Now, Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Music and all the other benefits of a subscription, just having more speedy shipping is well worth the cost of admission for us.

One part of Amazon Prime that many may have missed, though, is Prime Exclusive Phones, a benefit of being a Prime subscriber that allowed buyers to pick up specific smartphones at a discount, with Amazon pushing promos and ads to their lockscreen in a way not dissimilar to what it does with the Kindle Fire tablets. Surprisingly, though, Amazon announced recently that it would be removing those lockscreen promos from all Prime Exclusive devices, perhaps due to a potential security flaw that was discovered a couple of weeks ago.

The way these are removed is via an update to the Amazon Offers app, and although that is still rolling out to everyone, this being Android, the APK can be sideloaded by anyone who wants it and that particular APK is now available to download from here. As always, we suggest caution when sideloading Android apps like this, but given it is coming via a trusted source over at XDA, then there is little doubt about its legitimacy.

Once installed, the new Amazon Offers app will remove the aforementioned promos, and new devices for sale on Amazon’s website have seen a $20 increase to make up for the fact that these promos will no longer be pushed to their lockscreens.

Buyers will still get a better deal than non-Prime subscribers, though, so fret not.
