Although Cydia is rammed to the rafters with packages, apps and extensions, the majority of us still have our favorite tweaks that we always go for every time we jailbreak our devices. Personally speaking I am a long time jailbreaker and over the years have tried out more packages than I care to remember. In fact, I dread to think how much money I have spent on the Cydia store in the pursuit of find those perfect tweaks that perfectly compliment my iOS experience.

I am sure it is the same with most people but a lot of those purchases have been a waste of time and financial resources, but not all of them. The BiteSMS texting solution is by far the best purchase I have made on Cydia and is up there with Ryan Petrich’s Display Recorder in my opinion. For those that may not know, BiteSMS is a total text message app replacement for jailbroken iPhones and offers everything the native messaging solution offers as well as an absolute shed load more. As great as the package is, it hasn’t exactly been what you would called stable over the years and a lot of the criticism that is thrown at it is for that reason.

Version 6.3, just pushed to Cydia by the development team aims to resolve that issue with the fixing of a ton of little bugs that all add up to cause problems for some users running certain firmware versions. As well as the obligatory big fixes and minor improvements, version 6.3 also brings a whole host of new features such as the inclusion of a set of user interface type themes that allows users to totally change the appearance of the app without needing to add additional themes.

The team have also added the ability for users to display the contact picture of the contact in the lock screen notification list, an option that can be found under the Contact Pics section of the app. The popular Quick Reply feature has also had some attention with additional control features being applied in lock and unlock mode. The new features and bug fixes add some fantastic value to an application that was already a class apart from most other packages in Cydia.

And as a added bonus, the app is now available for half its original price for a limited time only. BiteSMS can be downloaded from the BigBoss repository on Cydia.
