Best Buy Offering Free $50 Gift Card On iPhone 5c Purchase

The iPhone 5c has been selling well, but not quite iPhone 5s-well, which is possibly why the folks at Best Buy have decided to try and give Apple’s new mid-range iPhone something of a helping hand in the old sales stakes.

Rather than drop the price of the iPhone 5c and risk the ire of Redmond – and that’s assuming they’re even allowed to drop it – Best Buy has instead started offering a free $50 gift voucher with each on-contract iPhone 5c purchase made in one of its stores.

It’s not quite a price drop. but it may as well be and that extra $50 does go some way to bringing the iPhone 5c closer to the current low-end iPhone 4s when it comes to the initial outlay required to get a hold of one.

A price drop in everything but name, the move to offer free gift cards comes as the iPhone 5c is apparently being outsold by the more powerful iPhone 5s by three to one, and with the 5s almost impossible to find in stock currently, it would appear that demand for the 5c is perhaps quite a bit lower than Apple and its retail partners believed.

As you would expect, Best Buy tag a lengthy list of conditions to the offer, none of which are particularly interesting, we have to say. Still, they’re well worth reading if you’re thinking about popping down to your local Best Buy store in order to get your hands on a nice shiny iPhone 5c while getting a gift card back for your troubles.

Valid 10/3/2013–10/7/2013. Offer available in store or for store pickup only. Gift card will only be valid on a future purchase. Contract phone customer must be eligible for a new two-year agreement to receive Gift Card for this promotion. Gift card must be returned if the phone is returned. You will be required to agree to the Terms & Conditions. Valid only on iPhone 5c.

There’s more than that, but we couldn’t bring ourselves to post it.
