Developers of great iOS apps sometimes cut their prices in special promotions, but the iTunes Free App of the Week never disappoints in delivering top-notch content without the usual price tag. This week’s entry usually costs $1.99, but right now, is completely free of charge. Details, as well as that all-important download link, can be found after the break.

Puzzlers have remained popular through the recent boom in mobile gaming, and Mighty Switch Force! Hose It Down! is a 2D title that combines neat graphics with intuitive gameplay. It’s challenging without being tedious, with the task being to rescue the ‘Hooligan Sisters’ from a number of different, fire-ridden buildings, and the way you must achieve this is to slide puzzle blocks around to navigate the path.

Tangent main

It’s one of those puzzles that really does require you to think, and like a Rubik’s Cube, one bad move can quickly unravel progress. But it has tremendous pick-up-and-play-ability, so whether you’re looking for a title that’ll occupy you for five minutes or half an hour, this is one that may take your fancy.

When downloaded, you get access to 25 puzzles across 5 different worlds, and once you’ve completed those, you can buy an extension pack for $0.99 via in-app purchase if you so wish. Since you’re getting the game for free, you may see value in grabbing the additional levels, and if you enjoy this game as much as we do, you probably will end up forking out that extra dollar.

Bear in mind that the app won’t be free forever, so even if you don’t plan on playing it right this second, do pick it up via the link below. Once it’s on your iTunes account, it will remain there indefinitely, so if, in future, you’re looking for a game to pass the time, you’ll have a ready-made option right under your nose.
