Apple TV 4 Refresh Incoming, Current Model Shipping Time Slips To 1-2 Weeks

If you were considering ordering an Apple TV any time soon then it may be wise to hold fire for a little while. With rumors swirling that Apple is finally going to give the little black hockey puck a much needed revision, the Apple TV has just seen its expected shipping time stretch out to 1-2 weeks after previously showing as ‘In Stock’ in Apple’s online store.

There has been talk of an Apple TV refresh for some time now, with a handful of different reasons pointing towards such a thing happening fairly soon. Apple reduced the price of the Apple TV from $99 to $69 recently, which left some wondering whether it was trying to sell through inventory or simply getting ready to release a new device above it using the existing $99 price point. Now it looks likely that the Apple TV as we know it will be going away fairly soon, though it is unclear whether it will be replaced by one product or two – one at $69 and one at $99.

Those paying attention to the Apple TV rumor mill will know that there is also speculation that Apple is set to finally launch some sort of television subscription service after years of discussions with content creators.

With the arrival of HBO’s new channel to the Apple TV very recently, it is possible that more channels may be on the way, with an improved Apple TV set to power them. Built-in storage and an improved user interface are reportedly on the cards for such an upgraded Apple TV, though we won’t know for sure until, or indeed if something is announced.
