Apple’s TestFlight Beta Testing Service Pops Up On App Store Ahead Of iOS 8 Launch

TestFlight has just made an appearance on the App Store for the very first time, and with the beta-testing app looking ready to roll ahead of the imminent launch of iOS 8, iPhone and iPad developers will soon reap the benefits of this renowned infrastructure for testing out unfinished applications.

The perceived downside to Apple’s acquisition of TestFlight is that it’s now tied in to iOS. Before Apple went ahead and purchased it some months ago, it couldn’t even pass Apple’s App Store moderation system as it violated the Terms of Service, but having since been tuned up and tied in with the Dev Center, those wishing to casually check out unfinished apps and participate in the community associated with beta testing will be able to do so.

Indeed, it’s not as though folks looking to get involved in betas cannot do so already, but with a TestFlight app sitting right there at the App Store, those on iOS will be able to dive right in with minimal fuss. Not only is it great for testers, but it’s also a critical process for developers as well, and should help to drive up the standards of apps along with the speed at which they’re brought to the masses.

At present, TestFlight is not quite ready for prime time. Some folk have managed to grab it, while others have been faced with an "only available on iOS 8" shut-out, but at its current duration, it’s not really much use anyway. Once installed, it’s merely a blank canvas, but once it too shakes off its beta tag and becomes a part of the iOS 8 experience, it will surely prove integral.

The current ‘No Invites’ splash will soon be awash with invitations for TestFlight users to check out app builds, and whilst it’s going to be an incredibly busy next couple of weeks what with the iPhone / iPad / iWatch event, we’ll still be keeping a close eye on the goings on with TestFlight and iOS 8 in general.

You can try and pick up the app via the link below, although as aforementioned, it’s pretty useless right now.
