Apple Once Again Named World’s Most Valuable Brand, Dethroning Google

Apple has just been named the most valuable global brand by Millward Brown, a market research firm. The firm in its tenth annual BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands report has shown the Mac maker as the leading brand with a value of $246.9 billion.

Being the tenth report of its kind, which is released annually, the 2014 issue showed Google as the reigning champion, being the most valuable brand of that year. However, 2015 sees Apple dethrone the search engine giant as it regains the top position for the fourth time. Earlier BrandZ brand value reports had shown Apple sitting in the top spot in 2011, 2012, and 2013, three years in a row.

Apparently Apple’s rise to the top has come through a stellar 67-percent increase in its brand value from 2014, which has been amounted to $246.9 billion. “With a 67 percent rise in Brand Value to $247 billion, Apple returned to number one in the BrandZ™ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands ranking. Success of the iPhone 6 and the related excitement surrounding the Apple brand drove the increase. Apple also led in the rate of brand value growth over 10 years – 1,446 percent.”

Of course the introduction of the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus with their larger display sizes have had a major part to play in not just improving brand value, but overall sales of Apple products following the release of the new phones. Sales of the two handsets had been far greater than when the iPhone 5s was introduced, with a massive increase in sales in new markets such as China.

If you take a look at the top ten brands in the BrandZ report for 2015, you’ll realize that majority of the companies either belong to technology or the telecom category. Companies like Microsoft, IBM, Visa, AT&T and Verizon follow in after Apple and Google. The report also includes the likes of Amazon, HP, Samsung, Facebook etc, though these companies do not fall in the top ten list.

With this year’s report out, it’s a clear indication that Apple is riding high and enjoying a good position in the consumer market. It would be interesting to see what happens next year to the Apple brand.

Besides this, Apple is also the most valuable tech company in the world.
